For the second time in my life I attempted to make tie dye tees with my kids as part of a mommy and kid party and I would say the tees came out decent, but what an experience.
It is fun being creative with how to tie the tees, but the coloring gets everywhere. You would think that kids would LOVE getting messy, but nooo! Mommy did most of the dying, getting messy and all. Thanks four children of mine. I am glad the tees came out decent. All joking aside, it was fun and I would do it again (but would appreciate more “little hands” help and enthusiasm haha).
As I mentioned above this tee was made at a mommy and child party my friend hosted. It was an event like this that reminded me that sometimes it is ok to reach out and do things beyond the norm with other moms or women. I think sometimes I feel too comfortable being home with the kids or taking them to the store or park. I am now just realizing there is more out there to do with the kids, some of it free or very cheap. It just takes planning ahead and budgetting extra money for those fun little day events.
Below is a list of things or goals I have researched and would like to do with my kids this summer:
-Summer Reading program at our local library (and finish it through).
-Swimming at our local Splash park at least once for family night.
-Swimming in the river nearby.
– Attend a $1 or free movie event at our local theater on designated days
– Visit more friends homes for play dates/Or host some play dates
-Attend storytime at Barnes & Noble more often
-Attend Touch-a-Truck
I think the list above is good for now as I don’t want to overwhelm my kids with too much as some of the stuff listed above is a weekly event and the summer is filling up fast with lots of fun stuff.
What are some things you do (or did if yours are older) with your kids in the summertime?

How fun! It looks like all your tees turned out great. I always took advantage of the summer public library or summer park activities when my kids were little.
Aww look at you all in your tie-dye shirts, so cute! I don’t think I’m brave enough to try that with my kiddo yet, he’s still a bit young (so I know I would be doing all of the work, ha!). I love your other activity ideas though, I really want to get to a splash park soon!
You did such a great job! They turned out so cute!

Oh wow. That was so long ago. Potato printing. Papier-mΓ’chΓ©. The pool. Storytelling at Borders (we didn’t have B&N). Making “castles” with empty boxes and “movie screens” with shoe boxes. Playing hair salon. That sort of thing π xoxo
So cute! Amazing pics, loved!
